How it works
Squeektoshi is a hamster whose wheel, the WHEELY9000, mines blocks on Squeekchain. Every turn of his wheel is one unit of work, grouped into 10-minute rounds and settled on Ethereum (Sepolia testnet). This site turns those rounds into a race.
The hamster's distance
- Each round's work comes from SqueekCore's
RoundRecordedevents on Ethereum Sepolia. A round settled with no event had zero work. - One work unit is one turn of the wheel, so distance = work × wheel circumference.
- The circumference is measured from Squeekchain's live telemetry while he runs: speed ÷ revolutions per second. We use the median of many readings.
- Every result links its settlement transaction, so you can check the hamster's number yourself.
Your distance
- Your phone's motion sensor counts your steps. Distance = steps × stride.
- Stride is the one you enter, or estimated from your height: 41.5% of it when walking and 65% when running.
- Nothing leaves your phone during the run. Only your nickname, step count and distance are saved when you finish.
- Results are self-reported. Runs faster than a world-record pace, or with more than 4 steps a second, are hidden from the leaderboard.
Two ways to race
- Ghost Race: pick one of his real rounds from the last 7 days. His ghost runs at that round's average pace, because Squeekchain records one total per round.
- Live Race: while he is on the wheel, join the next round as it happens. His official distance arrives a few minutes after the round, once it settles on Ethereum.
Fair play for the hamster
Squeektoshi runs when he wants to. Nothing here asks anyone to wake him, push him or change his routine. Naps are part of the game.
